tldr; On 16-17 February 2026 the Netherlands eScience Center is hosting a two-day JASP hackathon in Amsterdam. The purpose of the hackathon is to guide participants into developing their very own JASP module; the JASP programming team will be present to assist. In order to participate in this hackathon you need to send in an application (details below). Financial support may be available to offset some of the costs of travel and accommodation.
What is a JASP Module?
JASP provides many modules that greatly expand its functionality. The JASP ecosystem also encourages external contributors to create their own modules. As more and more people are getting involved, JASP becomes better able to support data analysis across a wide range of disciplines.
Under the hood, all JASP modules are based on R packages. You can think of a JASP module as an R package with a graphical interface on top of it:
In the near future, JASP will have a system of modules similar to CRAN, such that users can make modules available in an online “module library”. This will also make it easier for the JASP team to bring out updates, since these can be module-specific.

Required Background and Prep
JASP builds on top of a number of stepping stones, both technical and intellectual. In order to keep the hackathon feasible, participants need to come prepared. Crucially, participants need experience with R, and they need a good idea on what R package to turn into a module.

How to Apply
To submit an application, please send an email with the heading “Application to 2026 JASP Hackathon” to info@jasp-stats.org and include the following information:
- Your name, institution, and CV.
- Link to the R package you wish to convert to a JASP module.
- A brief motivation letter describing (a) the reason for wanting to create this specific module; (b) the user interest in the functionality that you wish to implement; (c) a rough idea of what you would like the GUI to do.
