Introducing JASP 0.19.2: New Modules, Improved Meta-Analysis, and Much More

We are happy to announce that JASP 0.19.2 has been released and is now available on our download page. JASP 0.19.2 contains a series of new modules, features, and improvements. Some of the highlights include the following:

  • A major upgrade of the Meta-Analysis module. Based on the metafor package by Wolfgang Viechtbauer, the new JASP implementation of classical meta-analysis is comprehensive (try it and you’ll be amazed!) and in our opinion greatly raises the bar for meta-analyses in stats programs with a graphical user interface. Interested users may marvel at some of the new options by navigating to the JASP Data Library and opening the .jasp analysis file for the data set “Effectiveness of the BCG Vaccine Against Tuberculosis”. An example of a highly customizable forest plot:
  • New module: Bayes Factor Functions. Calculate and interpret Bayes factors by mapping standardized effect sizes to Bayes factors derived from classical test statistics. BFFs simplify prior specification and compute Bayes factors across a range of alternative hypotheses specified via the mode of nonlocal prior distribution. This module is based on the recent statistical work by Johnson, Pramanik, & Shudde (2023).
  • New module: BFpack (beta): Test multiple hypotheses with equality and/or order constraints on the parameters of interest for several analyses: t-tests, ANOVAs, linear and logistic regression, correlation, and variances. This module is based on the statistical work of Joris Mulder (e.g., Mulder et al., 2021).
  • The Machine Learning module has been expanded with Logistic / Multinomial regression.
  • The Survival module has been expanded with semi-parametric survival analysis (Cox proportional hazards).
  • JASP can now import Microsoft Excel (.xls .xlsx) data files.
  • JASP now has R syntax highlighting in analysis panel controls.
  • Substantial efficiency gains have been achieved for reading of large data sets.

A complete list of features, improvements, and bug fixes for JASP 0.19.2 is presented in our release notes. We hope you enjoy the new version and we are already looking forward to our next major version, which rumor has it will bring a key feature and finally get us to JASP 1.0! (fingers crossed)
